Personalized, science-forward skincare

Healthy-looking skin starts with a plan that fits your goals, skin type, and lifestyle. At Dr. Kristin Egan’s practice, we build skincare routines using scientifically supported ingredients and medical-grade products, tailored after an in-person evaluation. Whether you want subtle refreshment or a more noticeable change, we help you protect, renew, and maintain your results for the long term.

Why choose Dr. Egan for your skincare routine

Dr. Kristin Egan is dual board-certified in Otolaryngology (ENT) and Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She integrates at-home skincare with in-office procedures to maximize results while protecting your skin barrier. Our Manhattan Beach office offers both ENT and cosmetic services; our Torrance location provides cosmetic services only. We serve patients across the Beach Cities, including Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, and surrounding communities.

Anti-aging solutions: Retinol for fine lines and wrinkles

Retinol (a vitamin A derivative) supports skin cell turnover and collagen over time, helping soften the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven tone. Because retinoids are active, “start low and go slow.” Apply a pea-sized amount at night 1–2 times per week, then gradually build to every other night as tolerated. Use moisturizer to minimize dryness and always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning, as retinoids can increase sun sensitivity.

Retinol tips for success

  • Apply to clean, dry skin at night; moisturize after (or use the “moisturizer sandwich” technique).

  • Do not layer on nights you use glycolic acid or any other acid product; alternate on different evenings.

  • If you experience significant irritation, reduce frequency or pause and contact our office.

  • Avoid retinoids if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; ask your obstetrician and Dr. Egan for alternatives.

  • Stop retinoids several days before certain procedures as directed by our team.

Sun protection excellence: Mineral sunscreen

Daily sunscreen is non-negotiable for healthy-looking skin and to maintain results. Our mineral-based sunscreen uses zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with a non-greasy, elegant finish that wears well alone or under makeup. Aim for SPF 30 or higher, apply generously every morning, and reapply every two hours when outdoors. Don’t forget the neck, ears, and hands.

Skin renewal with Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar

Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar is commonly used before and after cosmetic procedures to support the skin’s recovery process. Formulated with peptides and antioxidants, it helps soothe the skin, maintain hydration, and support the skin barrier as it heals. It pairs well with laser treatments, chemical peels, microneedling, and injectables when used as directed by Dr. Egan.

A simple 2-week starter plan

  1. 1

Week 1: Morning — Cleanse, apply moisturizer if needed, then mineral sunscreen (SPF 30+). Evening (2 nights/week): Cleanse, apply Retinol Smoothing Serum, then moisturizer. Other nights: cleanse and moisturize.

  2. 2

Week 2: Increase frequency of retinol 3-5 nights/week. Keep moisturizer in the routine to reduce dryness.

  3. 3

Post-procedure (as directed): Use Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar to support comfort and barrier recovery; resume actives like glycolic acid and retinol only when cleared by our team.

Who benefits from a customized regimen

  • People seeing early fine lines, dullness, or uneven tone

  • Those preparing for or maintaining results after cosmetic treatments

  • Patients with busy schedules who want effective, streamlined steps

  • Individuals seeking guidance on safe product layering and active ingredients

Safety and smart skincare practices

  • Patch test new products on the jawline or behind the ear for 24–48 hours.

  • Introduce one active at a time; increase frequency slowly.

  • Use daily sunscreen, especially when using exfoliants or retinoids.

  • Pause exfoliants/retinoids several days before and after procedures per Dr. Egan’s instructions.

  • If stinging, burning, or rash persists, stop the product and contact our office.

What to expect over time

Improvements in fine lines, texture, and uneven tone from retinol typically build over 8–12+ weeks. Daily mineral sunscreen helps prevent new UV damage and preserves your gains. Results and timelines vary by skin type and adherence; our team will adjust your plan at follow-ups.
