Latisse in Manhattan Beach: FDA-Approved Eyelash Growth Treatment for Longer, Fuller Lashes

Latisse for Longer, Fuller Lashes in Manhattan Beach and Torrance
If your eyelashes are sparse or thinning, Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%) is an FDA‑approved treatment that can help you grow longer, fuller, and darker lashes. Developed from a medication used in glaucoma care, Latisse is formulated specifically for safe use along the upper lash line with sterile, single‑use applicators.
What Latisse Does
Latisse treats eyelash hypotrichosis (inadequate lash growth). With consistent nightly use, most patients notice gradual improvement in lash length first, followed by increased fullness and deeper color. Results build over several weeks and are maintained with continued use.
How Latisse Works
The active ingredient, bimatoprost 0.03%, extends the growth phase of eyelash hair and increases the number of hairs that grow. Unlike over‑the‑counter lash conditioners, Latisse contains a prescription medication proven in clinical studies to enhance eyelash growth.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Adults with sparse, short, or thinning eyelashes
Patients without active eye infections or eyelid skin conditions
Those not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Individuals without a history of severe eye inflammation unless cleared by their eye doctor
Patients with glaucoma or using pressure‑lowering eye drops—only after discussing with their ophthalmologist and Dr. Egan
What to Expect: Treatment Timeline
- 1
Weeks 1–4: Early changes in length may appear.
- 2
Weeks 8–12: Fuller, darker lashes become noticeable.
- 3
Week 16: Peak results for most patients.
- 4
Maintenance: Continued use is needed to sustain results; stopping treatment leads lashes to gradually return to baseline.
How to Apply Latisse (Once Nightly)
- 1
Remove makeup and contact lenses; cleanse and dry your face.
- 2
Place one drop of Latisse on a new, single‑use sterile applicator.
- 3
Draw a thin line along the skin of the upper lash line only (like liquid eyeliner). Do not apply to the lower lashes.
- 4
Blot any excess solution and avoid dripping onto surrounding skin.
- 5
Discard the applicator. Use a fresh applicator for the other eye.
- 6
Wash hands after application. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting contact lenses.
Safety and Possible Side Effects
Common: Mild eye redness or itching, dry eyes, or eyelid skin darkening (often reversible).
Less common: Eye irritation, eyelid redness, or temporary lash misdirection.
Rare but important: Increased brown pigmentation of the iris (usually permanent) can occur if medication repeatedly enters the eye.
Unwanted hair growth can occur where the solution repeatedly touches the skin; wipe away any excess.
Do not share applicators; using a fresh applicator for each eye helps reduce infection risk.
If you have glaucoma or use pressure‑lowering eye drops, tell Dr. Egan—prostaglandin analogs can affect eye pressure monitoring.
Stop use and contact the office if you develop eye pain, vision changes, trauma, or a persistent eye infection.
Can Latisse Be Used on Eyebrows?
Some patients use bimatoprost 0.03% to improve eyebrow fullness; this is an off‑label use. If eyebrow thinning is a concern, Dr. Egan can discuss whether this approach—or alternative brow treatments—fits your goals and skin type.
Pairing Latisse with Botox and Fillers
Latisse enhances the frame of the eyes, while neuromodulators like Botox and dermal fillers can soften lines and restore volume for a balanced, refreshed look. During your consultation, Dr. Egan will create a personalized plan to address lashes, skin, and facial contours safely and naturally.
