    Botox® for Forehead Wrinkles

    Botulinum A Toxin (Botox) is a medicinal protein derived from the C.Botulinum bacteria. It has been safely used for many years in the treatment of eyelid spasm, eye muscle spasm that causes crossed eyes, correction of facial muscle imbalance, and neck muscle spasm. When injected in small doses, it works to temporarily (months) paralyze the affected muscle, and thereby softens the facial imbalance or releases the spasm.

    More recently, BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to relax the active facial muscles that over time create seemingly indelible creases between the eyebrows, on the forehead and around the eyes. The same principles that make BOTOX® Cosmetic effective as a medical treatment make it effective as a cosmetic treatment. Injecting small amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic into these active facial muscles results in localized paralysis and a smoother, more relaxed facial expression. Most commonly it is used in the upper face to eliminate frown lines and crow’s feet. You can expect the results from BOTOX® Cosmetic to last 3-5 months.

    JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel is an injectable dermal filler comprised of lab created hyaluronic acid, allowing for a natural looking result and gradual biodegradability. JUVÉDERM® Injectible Gel, however, is manufactured to be extensively crosslinked, creating a dense network of “bridge”-type bonds between different molecules of hyaluronic acid. The resultant larger molecules are reputed to be more resistant to resorption and therefore resulting in a longer lasting dermal correction.

    In fact, Juvederm® is the only injectable dermal filler FDA approved to last over a year and the only hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in patients of all skin types and colors.

    Dysport™ represents the first new botulinum toxin type A treatment option in eight years to reach the U.S. market place. Dysport™ (abobotulinumtoxinA) inhibits release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from peripheral cholinergic nerve endings, which reduces muscular spasm. The active ingredient in Dysport™ is a botulinum toxin type A, which acts at the level of the neuromuscular junction in the targeted muscle.
