Dr. Egan’s profile and Q&A in South Bay Magazine

The South Bay Magazine featured a profile of Dr. Kristin Egan.  A copy of the Q&A featured in the magazine is provided below. The original article can be seen here.

To what do you attribute your practice’s growth?

“The goal of my practice is to be a long-term part of the community of Manhattan Beach. I love working here and enjoy interacting with patients from the entire South Bay. The people in this community work hard but enjoy life and all the beauty there is in this area. They strive for a healthy, active lifestyle and want to look as young as they feel. I embrace and encourage this attitude and have many in-office treatments with minimal recovery time including the innovative Laser facelift.”

What is your area of specialty?

“I am fellowship-trained in facial plastic surgery and dual board-certified in both otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery, providing me with a detailed and extensive familiarity with the face and neck in both the aesthetic and functional sense. My extensive training allows me to focus on a small area of the body, the face and neck, in order to attain the results my patients desire.”

What trend is defining your specialty today?

“Patients are increasingly requesting less-invasive procedures with less recovery time and the ability to return to work quickly. In the current, fast-paced world, patients want to return to their families and social life quickly and not need to take a week off from work. More patients are turning to the multiple in-office services that can be done without the need for general anesthesia or a long recovery period. I am currently one of a few physicians in the LA area offering the recently FDA-approved, non-invasive, laser-assisted facelift in my office.”

Tell us about the staff at your practice.

“My staff members are hard-working and dedicated professionals who have devoted their careers to helping others. We work as a team to ensure the best and most efficient experience for my patients. Though each member of my team has specific duties, everyone helps in whatever manner necessary to accomplish what each patient needs. We are often able to fit patients into the schedule the same day if needed and have scheduled surgeries for the following week if the patient desires.”

How do you educate your clients to take good care of themselves?

“I counsel my patients that prevention is key. Every patient who comes to my office is offered information on sunscreen, which is vital here in Southern California. It not only helps protect against skin cancers but also prevents or ameliorates many of the signs of aging—including wrinkles and pigmentation abnormalities. I carry my own skin care line with a limited line of products, which I developed and use myself on a daily basis.”

Career Milestone

The highlight thus far in my career has been the opportunity and ability to use my training and skills on my mother to improve her appearance after facial skin cancer surgery. My mother has been highly supportive throughout my career, since she was the first in her family to attend college. The utilization of many in-office procedures including lasers and injectables has made an enormous difference in my mother’s self-esteem and appearance, and she now gets compliments from her friends on how well-rested she looks when she returns from visiting me!

Laser facelift is a one-time, one-hour, minimally invasive treatment designed to tighten the skin of the face and neck and remove excess fat using SmartLipo technology and no scalpel. This can be performed at the office and does not require general anesthesia. Laser Lift uses the latest technology to take laser energy underneath your skin and stimulate collagen production in the dermis, which leads to improved skin elasticity, thickness and texture.
